Igor is a Brazilian patent attorney, with a 20-year experience in Intellectual Property prosecution and litigation. He graduated in Chemical Engineering from Federal Fluminense University, in 1999 and Law from Candido Mendes University, in 2009. Igor qualified as a registered industrial property agent before the Brazilian PTO in 2001.
Igor’s experience includes management and prosecution of patent portfolios ranging in size from a few to dozens of national and international patent cases. His practice also encompasses counseling clients in several patent issues, such as drafting of patentable claims in Brazil, launching of products to the market, data exclusivity and National Sanitary Surveillance Health Agency – ANVISA, and preparation of FTO opinions and infringement analysis.
Igor teaches Patent Law in the postgraduate course of Intellectual Property and Unfair Competition Law of Candido Mendes University Law School. In the past, he served as vice chairman of the Patent Commission in the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association.
He has attended several conferences and seminars in the intellectual property field and participated in numerous administrative and court cases on behalf of international clients.
Igor is author and co-author of several publications on intellectual property law and frequently lectures on Brazil’s patent law in universities and clients’ facilities in Brazil and abroad. He is listed in the Brazilian magazine Os Mais Admirados do Direito (The Most Admirable Law Practitioners), edition of 2006.
Member of the Regional Council of Chemistry and of Brazilian Bar Association, registered in the State of Rio de Janeiro. Member of the Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle – AIPPI and the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (Associação Brasileira da Propriedade Intelectual – ABPI).

Daniela advises global companies on how to protect, defend, enforce and manage their intellectual property rights. Her practice encompasses all aspects of intellectual property law, including patent drafting and prosecution, IP litigation, validity and infringement opinions, client counseling in intellectual asset management and appeals before the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office, especially in the fields of pharma, chemistry, biotechnology, oilfield technologies and nanotechnology.
Daniela is often a speaker on panels around the globe discussing topics including the IP landscape in Latin America.
Before joining Simões IP, Daniela worked for more than 12 years in the area of industrial and intellectual property. As a Corporate Director of an international IP Company, she was responsible for managing all IP legal and technical services Departments from 10 countries of Latin America and Europe. As a pharmacist, Daniela also has field experience in the pharma industry.
